Project Vote Smart is the nation's first Voter's Self-Defense Organization. We collect information on 40,000 candidates for public office at all levels of government. We cover them in 5 basic areas: biographical backgrounds, issue positions, voting records, campaign finances and performance evaluations made on them by over 100 special interest groups.
We do not lobby, support or oppose any candidate or legislation, and we do not accept financial support from any organization that does. We are supported by the Ford, Carnegie and Pew Foundations, however the majority of our support comes from 40,000 members.
We are staffed by both conservatives and liberals of various parties who have volunteered for up to two years in order to help you get the facts about the candidates instead of just the rhetoric.
All of the services that we provide are free of charge. If you can help our organization please do, but more importantly get informed about the issues and people are are affecting your life.
